Château de Couches
This château, located 10 km from Nolay, was erected in the 10th century and became an impressive fortress in the 12th century. The majestic keep, prison tower, drawbridge, wide enclosures and underground passages bear witness to its past, feudal and warlike. In the 13th century, Marguerite de Bourgogne, Queen of France, granddaughter of Saint Louis, lived there for the last years of her life.
